ROOSEVELT CAMPOBELLO INTERNATIONAL PARK
CAMPOBELLO ISLAND
THE ROOSEVELT COTTAGE
Come visit the house and walk the grounds where FDR spent his childhood summers. Where Elenor brought the children on vacation.
International Bridge
Across the bridge from Lubec, Maine, The Roosevelt-Campobello International Park represents a unique testement to the binding friendship between Canada and the United States.
The park was established in1964 and is the result of an international agreement between the United States and Canada. Although the Park is jointly administered by a commission with representatives from both countries, the park itself is on Canadian soil. This fact needs to be made clear since some visitors from the U.S. don't realize they have to cross the border into Canada. Currently, only photo ID is required.
The park boasts beautiful gardens in the cottage grounds, which also includes an extensive visitors center. A large proportion of the estate is allocated as wilderness park, providing numerous attractions such as whales, eagles, osprey and moose. The International park contains some of the finest walking trails on the eastern seaboard, with breathtaking scenic vistas.
